Engage to Change: The programme for frontline workers in the homelessness sector

Engage to Change

This new Level 3 qualification has been developed specifically for people working directly with homeless people. The course covers the mainstays of key working and aims to support you in developing your approach to gaining successful outcomes for your clients. This is not an induction programme; it is aimed at people who already have experience of working in the sector that want to develop further and learn by exploring real workplace issues.

The course has been developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), Homeless Link and Broadway as part of the government’s “No one left out : communities ending rough sleeping,” (CLG, 2008) strategy. The strategy sets out plans to end street homelessness in England by 2012 and cites training and qualifications as being central to that goal. In 2010 Porchlight became the first organisation in the country to be accredited by the CIH to deliver the training.

At the end of the course particpants receive the CIH Level 3 in Supporting Homeless Persons Certificate.
