Initially the group set out to take part in the annual Boston Rowing Marathon but after it was cancelled they remained determined to help the charity and completed the distance at Plucks Gutter on the River Stour.
Charlotte Riding the team cox said: “I thought the boys did and excellent job, they worked really hard through training and put their all into the 50k.”
Rachel van Hoven, Community Fundraiser for Porchlight, is delighted with the group’s effort: “As a local charity we really want to be seen as a part of the community. Receiving the support of the University Rowing Club really does give us a boost.”
The rowers have set a target of £1000 and are still accepting donations online.
