Can I send my CV instead of an application form?

A

We don't accept CVs - only application forms.

There are rare occasions when we ask for both a CV and an application form. If this is the case, it will be clearly noted in the job advert and on the application form itself.

I don’t have a computer, can I still apply?

A

Unfortunately, we can only accept applications via email. All applications must be sent to recruitment@porchlight.org.uk.

If you don’t have access to a computer, we recommend that you visit your local library, or ask family or friends.

I can’t download the application. Can you help?

If you are experiencing difficulties, email recruitment@porchlight.org.uk and let us know. If you would like to discuss alternative ways to apply, please call 01227 760078 to speak with our HR assistant.

How do I complete the application form?

A

The application form should be typed (where possible).

When filling out section 2E, we advise that you pay close attention to the instructions: your statement should address each item of the person specification in order, noting the number you are addressing.

You must ensure you meet the essential criteria of the role before you apply. Once you have proofread your application, email it to recruitment@porchlight.org.uk.

Do I need any specific qualifications for working at Porchlight?

A

The majority of roles at Porchlight do not require you to have specific qualifications. If the role you are applying for does require a specific qualification, this will be made clear in the 'essential requirements' section of the person specification.

What criteria do you use to assess my application?

A

The recruitment panel will assess your application against the essential and desirable criteria listed on the person specification. If you meet the essential criteria to a high enough standard, the panel will invite you to an interview.

I’ve missed the closing date. What can I do?

A

Unfortunately, if you have missed the closing date you are no longer eligible for apply for the post and your application will not be considered. We strongly recommend you sign up to our job alerts so that you can be notified as soon as a vacancy is announced.

How will I know you have received my application?

A

You will receive an email from our HR team acknowledging receipt of your application. If you do not receive acknowledgement within three working days of sending please call the HR assistant on 01227 760078.

I would like to apply for a job, however I am disabled. Are there any separate processes that I need to follow?

A

We welcome applications from everyone. If you have a disability, we’ll happily put reasonable measures in place to help you attend a job interview. Please inform us of any measures you require by filling out the Equal Opportunities section of the application form.
