Safe Place Appeal
Helping homeless women in Kent
Will you support our Safe Place Appeal and help homeless women in Kent?
Kent has a hidden female homelessness crisis. Last year, one in five of the people we found sleeping on our streets were women.
Women live in fear of being exploited, attacked or worse but are less visible than men who are sleeping on the streets.
We've found that opportunities to help women on the streets are being missed, partly because homelessness support services are designed predominantly around men's needs.
That's why we've launched an appeal to help us develop specialist services so that no woman has to spend more than 48 hours on the street.
Your donation can help us make sure that female rough sleepers receive quick and appropriate support. To ensure that they move off the streets as soon as possible and have the opportunity to rebuild their lives and regain their dignity.
The difference your donation can make
- £25 could provide a welcome pack of food and toiletries. These are not just essential items but also a symbol of care and support, showing a woman moving into our accommodation that she is no longer alone and that Porchlight will support her on her journey.
- £100 could fund a starter pack containing items such as a kettle, toaster, microwave and crockery, practical items that will help a woman to make a new start in life as she moves into her own home.
- £500 could pay for a rent deposit, helping a woman to move off the streets and into a safe and stable home, where with Porchlight’s support she can start to rebuild her life.
