Mental health support volunteer
Help people address issues that are affecting their wellbeing
You'll be part of a team that helps people to manage their mental health and address any other issues they are facing (physical health, housing issues, money concerns, finding employment, loneliness). This will involve helping them to access support services in their local area. You might also advocate for people who are applying for help from council services.
To carry out this work, your team will meet with people community locations and sometimes their homes. You will also assist the team with some administrative tasks.
Where
Thanet (weekdays, need to be available at least 4 hours a week)
What we need from you
- Good communication skills
- A non-judgemental approach to helping people who have a range of support needs
- Enthusiasm and reliability
- Good administrative and computer skills
- Two references will be required.
A full induction and training will be provided to prepare you for the role. You’ll also be able to attend team meetings and shadow Porchlight staff to gain more knowledge about the work we do.
