When will you request references?
In most cases, we'll ask for references if your interview is successful and we're offering you a job. For more senior roles we may require references ahead of your interview.
When filling our your application form please indicate if you are happy for us to approach a previous employer before a job offer is made. We usually expect suitable references from your last two employers.
When will I know the outcome of my interview?
We will let you know the outcome within 3 to 5 working days of your interview.
What will I be asked to do at the interview?
This will depend on the role you're applying for. In addition to a formal panel interview, it's likely that you'll be asked to demonstrate your IT skills, written communication skills and/or maths skills by taking part in a short exercise.
You will also have to take part in a practical assessment (such as delivering of a training session for our service users or giving a presentation to our panel). All necessary details will be emailed to you before the interview.
Is there parking available?
Unfortunately our offices do not have parking for visitors. We recommend using Park & Ride facilites or local car parks.
Will I need a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check?
If you are applying for a role which undertakes regulated activity (as defined by the Disclosure and Barring Service), your employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. You must supply us with the original copy of your DBS Certificate once the check is complete.
I have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check from a previous organisation, can I use transfer this to my position at Porchlight?
If you're already registered with the DBS Update Service, you will be able to transfer this from your previous employer. This service costs £13 - www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service to find out more. If you do not already belong to this service, you'll be required to complete another check before begining work with us.
What do I need to bring to my interview?
If we invite you for an interview, we’ll also let you know what you need to bring. Please note that you will definitely need proof of your right to work in the UK, proof of your address (such as a utility bill) and certificates of any relevant qualifications you have.
If the position you’re applying for requires an enhanced DBS check, you’ll need to provide the relevant ID for this (a list of relevant documents will be sent to you with your interview invite).
