Pounds 4 Porchlight

Save your Pounds 4 Porchlight!

Each child receives a house-shaped money box, decorates it, takes it home, fills it with coins and brings it back to school.

Pounds 4 Porchlight is a simple, stress-free alternative to the traditional Harvest Festival food collection. Using materials supplied by us, the children decorate house-shaped money boxes to take home. We provide them with a list of chores to complete around the house to earn money.

Then, rather than bring packets and tins to school, they return the money boxes and create their very own Porchlight Village. The school that raises the most money will win our Homelessness Heroes trophy!

This was undoubtedly the best Harvest Festival campaign we have ever had at our school. We wanted something that would involve all the children and their families, and it needed to be relevant and valuable. The children loved decorating the little houses and filling them with coins. The children's eyes were opened to the plight of the homeless, and we were all able to contribute in a small way to Porchlight's aim of transforming lives in the long term.
