Because like you, we’re dedicated to changing attitudes and changing lives.

About us: We are passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where homelessness and poverty are things of the past.

The role: Kent has one of the highest percentages of female homelessness in the country. But all too often many homelessness support services – including our own – have been designed predominantly for men and do not meet the very specific needs of women.

After carrying out research into female homelessness, Porchlight has decided to appoint its first women’s services development manager to improve the support available to female rough sleepers.

You will be responsible for developing and managing Porchlight’s first support service specifically for homeless women. This includes managing a team that carries out this work.

You will also liaise with other agencies, helping them understanding the particular needs of female rough sleepers and what they can do to better support them.

This role requires:

  • The ability to develop and manage services for vulnerable people
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people to develop those services
  • Experience of working with homeless women and an understanding of their complex support needs
  • Knowledge of housing and support available for homeless women
  • Experience of liaising with other agencies (social services, prison service, education providers, employers, the police and others).

Benefits: As a Porchlight employee, you will have access to a wide range of benefits including free life insurance, 25 days holiday per year (increasing to 30 days after five years’ service) and the Porchlight pension scheme.
