Activities organiser volunteer (multiple roles available)
Run fun activities for our residents
We're looking for people to organise group activities for residents at our Canterbury homelessness accommodation. If you're passionate about cooking, music, IT, gardening, arts & crafts, board games or anything else, we'd love you to share it with our clients.
Group activities play an important role in recovery from homelessness. They're a chance for people to feel included and cared about again.
As an activities volunteer, your role would be very flexible. It can be dependent on whatever passion or skill you want to share with our residents.
Maybe you could run a themed activity every week, fortnight or month. Perhaps you could also organise seasonal activities (for pancake day, Easter, Halloween, etc). So long as you're providing fun and engaging things to do, we want to hear from you.
We already have lots of equipment and games available, and could provide additional equipment or resources if you need them (within a reasonable budget).
We'd also welcome anyone who can help our residents with day-to-day activities: filling out online forms, attending council and GP appointments, and budgeting for food shopping.
What we need from you
- A desire to help people who’ve experienced homelessness
- Commitment and reliability
- Emotional resilience (some people we work with have experienced a lot of trauma)
- Two references will be required
Where and when
Canterbury, Dover, Thanet (days and times can be based around your availability)
