Homelessness drop-in volunteer
Can you give up four hours a week to help people in Dartford?
Can you give up four hours a week to help people who are homeless?
You’ll be based at our weekly Dartford drop-ins for people who are sleeping rough. It’s somewhere they can get something to eat, wash their clothes, shower and get support for their situation.
You’ll welcome people to the drop-in, show them round and explain how to use the facilities. You’ll also be someone they can turn to about the problems they are facing. You’ll also let them know what support is available (from Porchlight and other organisations) and help them to fill out paperwork.
What we need from you
- A desire to help people who are homeless
- An awareness of the problems they face
- Commitment and reliability
- Good communication skills
- Two references will be required
Where and when
The drop-ins are held at St. Edmunds Church, Temple Hill. They take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 3pm. We’re looking for people who can volunteer during any of these times, ideally for at least four hours per session.
If you can't commit to four hours a week but are still interested, we'd still like to talk with you. Email volunteer@porchlight.org.uk
