Porchlight CEO explores global lessons on homelessness with leading public health figures

Porchlight's CEO Tom Neumark joined forces with Dr Jihad Malasi, GP & ICB Mental Health lead, Dr Joe Tay Teck (Glasgow GP and Harkness Fellow), and Caitlin Ryus (associate professor at the Yale School of Public Health & Emergency Doctor) for a new podcast episode discussing how different countries are tackling homelessness - and what these global perspectives can teach us about local solutions.

The wide-ranging conversation covered the cost of living crisis, falls in standard of living and the increased vulnerabilities people faced that could lead any of us down a difficult path.

Dr Jihad Malasi hopes that the conversation is the starting point, learning from the innovative work that's being done across the world and reflecting on how it relates to homelessness in Kent.

“We have only scratched the surface of what we can be talking about. There’s so much we can learn from talking to each other in this way.”

The discussion reflects Porchlight's ongoing commitment to addressing the significant challenges faced in Kent and Medway.

Tom said: "For us, this is more than just talk, it's part of a growing effort to connect what's happening around the world to the local action we can take, to help shape more inclusive and resilient communities given the right support."
