New Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledges to end rough sleeping
We think it's achievable and are ready to do our part
We welcome the new Prime Minister's announcement that one of his government's main aims is to end rough sleeping.
It's good to have leadership that's focusing on this - one of the biggest issues we face both in Kent and across country.
Ending homelessness can be achieved: we know how to do it. The government can't do this alone and it will require all of us - charities, councils, housing associations and others - to work together.
We must prevent people from experiencing homelessness in the first place. If someone does become homeless, they must be prevented from it becoming a reoccurring problem.
This doesn't just mean giving them a people a place to live. It means providing them with a real home and social networks that give them a sense of purpose and belonging. Ultimately, safe homes for everyone benefit all of us.
We're ready to do our part.
