Put the fun in fundraising this Easter

Simple fundraising ideas for the school holidays

As the school holidays fast approach, we have some fun family activities that will not only keep the kids entertained, but also raise money and awareness to help Porchlight support young people and adults who are facing homelessness across Kent.

Your little people can make a big difference.

1. Easter bake sale

Clear the decks, throw on your aprons, and let the small people go wild in the kitchen.

Get messy making chocolate nests, hot cross buns, and bunny shaped biscuits.

Set up a stall outside your house or take your delicious treats to friends and family to buy.

2. Sponsored walk

Burn off that excess energy with a sponsored walk. Map out a safe, child friendly route and ask friends, family, and neighbours to sponsor you.

Make it more fun by walking in a group and having a picnic at the end.

We can provide support, sponsorship forms and collection tins.

3. Easter egg hunt

Challenge friends and family to hunt out your well-hidden eggs, in exchange for donations.

Hide them in your house, local park, or back garden? Make it harder by writing clever clues people must follow.

A fun competition for all ages and a great way to bring people together.

(If hiding eggs in a public place, please ensure dogs cannot unwrap and eat the chocolate)

4. Movie marathon

Stock up on popcorn, put your PJ’s on and turn down the lights.

You could challenge yourself to 5 movies back-to-back, a couple a day or go all out and do a 24-hour film fest.

Either ask for sponsorship or a donation to join your movie marathon.

For family films with an Easter theme try Peter Rabbit, Guess How Much I love you, Hop, The Dog Who Saved Easter and Ice Age – The Great Egg-Scapade.

5. Shhhhhh sponsored silence

A super simple challenge that needs nothing but willpower.

Set anything from a few hours to a whole day where no talking or whispering is allowed. Organise silent games and find other ways to communicate with each other.

To make it even harder, take away digital devices.

For small children make the time shorter and ensure they have books and toys to keep them entertained.

Celebrate the end of your silence with a countdown and big shout out to yourselves for the money you have raised for Porchlight.

Don’t forget to promote your fundraising events on your social media accounts and mention Porchlight.
