General election: we're campaigning for a fairer future

The voices of people experiencing poverty, and inequality in health and housing, must be heard

Yesterday, Rishi Sunak called a UK general election for 4 July.

The voices of people experiencing poverty, and inequality in health and housing, must be heard. We're a non-political organisation but will be engaging with candidates across the political spectrum. They must hear about the devastating issues people are facing.

The next government must address the housing crisis that's pushing people into homelessness. We need more social homes where people can afford to live without being pushed to the brink. They must be backed by a benefits system that protects and supports anyone who is struggling.

Homelessness is rising. Support for people in this desperate situation is disappearing due to funding cuts. We need properly funded homelessness services and supported housing so that everybody is able to leave the streets behind and rebuild their life.

The number of adults and young people experiencing mental ill health is worryingly high. The next government needs to provide properly funded mental health services that address the scale of the challenges that people are facing.

We'll also be ensuring that everybody we work with has photo ID and will be encouraging them to vote for a party that aligns with their values on election day. We want them to know that their voice matters.
