Paul Hollywood is supporting Porchlight this Christmas

The Bake Off star is helping us tackle homelessness

Paul Hollywood has joined forces with Porchlight to tackle homelessness in Kent this Christmas.

The baking superstar and Porchlight patron joined our outreach team to support people who are homeless.

He also held a special baking demonstration for 200 fans to raise money for our lifesaving services.

Paul joins us on the streets

Paul spent a cold December morning with Porchlight outreach worker Lorraine.

They met with people sleeping rough, providing support to keep them safe and help them escape the streets.

Paul Hollywood's festive bake

Paul also held a special charity baking demonstration for Porchlight at the Westgate Hall, Canterbury.

It was a chance for 200 fans to pick up some top tips from the man himself.

This was followed by an audience Q&A (we learned he prefers bread to cakes) and a book signing. He also spoke from the heart about his experiences with our outreach team.

“I’ve spent time with the Porchlight staff and know how passionately they feel about making sure people get a second chance. I’m proud to support them and I encourage others to support them too. Together, we can make sure they’re there for the most vulnerable people in society.”

Punters also enjoyed cup cakes made by Butterfly Garden Tea Parties, and there was a raffle for prizes donated by Porchlight supporters.

Paul Hollywood's Festive Bake raised an amazing £8,246 which will be used to help homeless and vulnerable people in Kent.
