Porchlight is 50
That's 50 years of changing lives, but we're not celebrating.
Not whilst the average age of death for people living on the streets is 45 for men and just 43 for women.
We believe that everyone living on the streets should be able to celebrate their 50th birthdays. If you agree, add your name now.
Commemorating our past
We exist because our founder – Tom Gifford - had experienced homelessness. He wanted to protect others from the trauma and devastation it causes.
Tom could never have imagined that, five decades on, people would need our help more than ever.

The journey ahead
We know there’s still a lot of work to do as we're needed now more than ever. Because the sad truth is, homelessness is at an all-time high, demands for mental health services are on the rise and more people are being pushed into poverty.
Until everyone can celebrate their 50th birthday, we won’t celebrate ours.
We’re launching longer term plans to help rebuild the safety nets communities have lost after years of government austerity. Whether someone is struggling with housing, money or health – we want to be there when it matters most.
