Don't suffer in silence on Blue Monday - get in touch
15 January 2018
This story is about our Live Well Kent service. It helps people manage their mental health and physical or emotional wellbeing before things reach crisis point.
Winter can be a difficult time for people with mental health needs but you don’t have to suffer in silence.
Anybody who is struggling to cope or feeling isolated can receive help by contacting Live Well Kent, a network of health and wellbeing-related support services.
The help Live Well Kent provides is wide-ranging. People can get support with:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Keeping active and healthy
- Meeting people and overcoming isolation
- Training and getting into work
- Everyday living (money management, housing or improving relationships with family and friends).
“There’s a lot of support available and we’re there to help people access it,” says Live Well Kent’s Julia Hargreaves. “If you’re struggling on Blue Monday or at any time, please get in touch with us.”
Live Well Kent helps thousands of people across the county each year.
When Tracey first contacted Live Well Kent, she was experiencing anxiety and finding it difficult to leave the house. She was out of work and the whole situation was having a negative effect on her confidence.
Tracey was assigned a worker who helped her build the confidence to experience new things including joining arts & crafts groups and visiting the gym.
She also received counselling and was taught how to refer herself into other medical services if needed.
We quickly saw a change in Tracey and she eventually ended up running a craft course for one of the Live Well Kent partner organisations. We’re pleased to say that Tracey is now looking at a brighter future.
