Government's £100 million to help rough sleepers is a start

“This is welcome news, but homelessness can only be ended through continued investment.

“People end up on the streets for a myriad of reasons. Each person’s situation is unique and we need to offer a tailored response in each case and that isn’t cheap.

“That being said, it is refreshing to see a government strategy that talks about early intervention for people at risk of becoming homeless because we know that this is the only way we’re going to make any real headway against the crisis.

"We need to tackle the root causes of homelessness, putting support mechanisms in place to prevent people from ending up on the streets.

"We’re seeing more and more people struggling to make ends meet on a daily basis because of changes to the benefits system and a lack of truly affordable housing. Until the government recognises and starts to address these as the key drivers of the rough sleeping crisis, nothing will change."
