New government emergency measures to house rough sleepers
An eviction ban has also been put in place to protect renters
The government has announced £15 million to help councils house people who are homeless.
Porchlight's street team, which has been supporting people throughout this crisis, is on the ground and ready to assist councils with this important work.
The relationships our workers build with people who are rough sleeping, our knowledge of local communities and our homeless helpline all help to make this happen as quickly as possible.
The government has also announced an eviction ban for the duration of the lockdown and over the Christmas period (December 11 to January 11). It prevents renters being evicted from their homes.
Porchlight was involved in the multi-agency effort to get help sleepers into emergency accommodation when the first lockdown was first announced. We worked with local authorities to support 140 people off the streets.
