Tenancy training: preparing people to rent a home
19 February 2018
Did you know: many landlords still refuse to accept tenants who have been homeless at one point in their lives.
It’s why we’re now offering extensive tenancy training to all residents, allowing them to prove that they’ll be responsible tenants.
The ‘Renting Ready’ training, developed by Crisis, also equips participants for every step of the renting process – finding homes, tenant’s rights and responsibilities, money management and more.
The three-day course equips participants for every step of the renting process – finding homes, tenant’s rights and responsibilities, money management, how to spot rogue landlords, and more.
Everyone that completes the course is given a Porchlight-endorsed certificate which can be shown to landlords as proof of their suitability for the property.
It also allows them to access our Social Lettings Agency, which helps people overcome the financial and personal barriers they may face in order to find and sustain a tenancy.
The ‘Renting Ready’ training is currently only available to Porchlight residents but we hope to eventually extend it to the wider community.
